An Alternative Halloween Craft Idea

As a business we are sensitive to the fact that Halloween is met with mixed views by schools, churches, other groups and parents.

We are often asked for a suggestion for children’s craft sessions that can be completed in the build up to Halloween. They would feel "Halloweenish" for the children who chose to look at them this way but would also appear non-Halloween where this is more appropriate.

We always recommend pirate themed crafts for this.  Why?

1.  The skull and crossbones within pirate crafts are also used within Halloween crafts, so it can give the Halloween feel to crafts, without being overtly so. 

2.  Pirate themed crafts are probably the most popular in the world of kids crafts, so carries through to Halloween time craft sessions easily.

3.  There is an extensive range available of children’s pirate craft kits and craft supplies, suitable for all ages, abilities and for both home and group craft sessions.

4.  They are great for both boys and girls.  Have you seen our pink pirate range? These have been designed for girls to make either at all-girl craft sessions (such as brownies and guides) or during pirate themed craft sessions and parties where there will be a mix of boys and girls.

Autumn Themed Crafts for Kids

Halloween falls within the autumn season, which offers some great alternatives to the standard children’s Halloween craft themes. You may like the alternative children’s Halloween craft suggested above but if you are looking for something that is not Halloween based but is still seasonal, then autumn themed crafts will probably fit the bill.

Our autumn themed crafts are mostly based around bonfires and autumn leaves. However, you could add some pumpkin based crafts to these to extend the craft experience.

Children’s Halloween Mask Making Crafts

Halloween, as a season, probably lends itself to mask making crafts for kids more than any other opportunity throughout the year.

At littlecraftybugs, we appreciate that some customers will want to design their own Halloween mask making craft and others will want to buy pre-designed mask making kits. Both of these options are catered for in our Halloween craft shop.

• Halloween themed foam shapes and foam stickers – ideal for masks, together with many other Halloween themed craft projects
• Tacky glue – this is the glue we always recommend where you will be sticking anything on masks, other than just paper and card when you could use a standard PVA or glue stick.
• Glitter – kids Halloween crafts don’t need to be “flat” and can often be embellished with glitter and glitter glue to bring these to life.
• Feathers are something a bit different on Halloween masks, especially black, purple and orange feathers.
• Tissue paper is also very popular on Halloween mask making crafts as it can be used in so many different ways, perhaps crumpled up and stuck on, or used flat and layered up.

Craft parties are continuing to grow in popularity, and the Halloween season and early dark nights make this season a perfect time of year for a Halloween themed craft party.
