Rudolph Pom Pom Noses!

Every Christmas we are asked to recommend pom pom sizes for red noses on Rudolph themed children's craft projects.

Crafty Bug Making

If you are making a pom pom Rudolph craft you will need to add a 7mm red pom pom nose to a 35mm pom pom, which is the standard size body we recommend for all bug making crafts.  If you are using a larger pom pom, say 50mm or one of our exclusive giant pom poms, we would suggest a 12mm red pom pom.

For the body you could use a brown pom pom but beige poms work best for kids Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer themed crafts.

Just add foam, pipecleaners (gold tinsel, brown or beige) and 10mm googly eyes and you will have everything you need.

Other Noses!

 Red pom poms are available in 3mm (micro size, the sze of a small peppercorn), 7mm (approx 1/4"), 10mm, 12mm (the most popular size - approx 1/2"), 25mm (1"), 35mm (1.5") and 50mm (2").  We also have giant fluffy 60mm and 70mm red pom poms, which are exclusive to us. 

Which pom size you choose clearly depends on the size of the base that you are using.  Also, whether you're looking for a traditional or comical looking Rudolph reindeer craft.

Tinsel pom poms are dearer but they do add a luxurious feel to your Christmas craft projects and kids love tinsel and glitter at Christmas!

Our top tips are:

• Only use 3mm for very small craft projects, these really are tiny.
• Don't forget that you will also need to add other facial features, so leave room!
• When attaching the red pom pom to your craft project, use scissors to snip some of the fluff away from the back of the pom to give you a flatter surface to adhere to your craft.  It's then less likely to fall off!
• Always use a good tacky glue - cheap PVAs really don't work when sticking wool pom poms.

• All of our pom poms have a core (in the same way as a home made pom pom), so they can be sewn onto items or hanging cords can be threaded through the cord. Why not try a hanging reindeer craft?

None of our pom poms are recommended for washing.  Although the 60mm and 70mm have been used by many customers for this purpose, including Rudolph knitwear and soft toys we cannot guarantee colour fastness.
