Mother's Day Craft Idea - Pretty Trinket Box

This little trinket box will make a lovely Mother's Day gift and is ideal for slightly older kids to make.

The completed box could be filled with wrapped sweets or perhaps a little hand made gift for Mum. 

Step by Step Craft Instructions

This craft project is very simple to make but is also extremely effective and looks really pretty. 

The only materials you will need are our Mother's Day themed peel off stickers, white card and red card offcuts, felt tip pens and square silver boxes.

You could adapt this by using plain square boxes and painting them with acrylic paints but the silver foil does work really well with the red foil peel off stickers.

Each peel off sticker sheet will make two boxes and you will still have lots of shapes left over, perhaps for a hand made Mother's Day card.  A plain C6 card blank would work best and made in the same way and using the same supplies as for the trinket box.

The long sticker on the strip is used around the lip of the lid.  These do need to be peeled off with care and not stretched when holding them or sticking them on.

Then take one of the flower shapes and stick it to a white card off cut.  These are then coloured in.  If working with older kids they could use a scalpel to cut around the flowers (as we have) but otherwise it would best to cut around the whole shape with scissors leaving a border all around it.

Then stick the shape to the top of the box with tacky glue.  For a 3D effect you could lift the flower shape off the box with sticky foam pads, as we have in our sample.

Then to finish the craft we have used one of the smaller peel off stickers in the same way but mounted it onto a small section of red card before adding to the box.
