How To Make An African Tribal Mask

Our black plastic masks work really well for these African tribal masks and they can be adapted in so many different ways, depending on the budget or age and ability of the crafters.

You could also use card or paper mache masks instead of plastic. The benefit of white card masks is that you will be able to use felt tip pens to create an intricate pattern. We would recommend using paints if you choose paper mache masks as the colour will stay true.

In our example, we have used sequin waste, glitter glue, tinsel pipe cleaners, sequins, sticky dots and foiletti.

We recommend using self adhesive items as these are the most likely to stick to the plastic of the mask. However, where this isn't possible, double sided tape and foam pads both work well.

No instructions needed for this freestyle craft, just let the crafter's imagination run free!
