Father's Day Alien Space Craft for Kids

These cute alien spaceships are wonderful gifts for Father's Day and quite simple to make with a little help from an adult. A great craft for kids to use their imagination and creativity, making one spaceship or an entire alien fleet.

We painted 1 x 75mm polystyrene UFO disc with metallic silver acrylic paint, left it to dry, then glued a neon pom pom to the top. The alien was completed with a 20mm googly eye and a sentiment stuck onto the spaceship with sticky foam pads. As an alternative we glued buttons onto a 75mm polystyrene UFO disc and once dry painted the whole surface with metallic titanium gold acrylic paint. When the paint had dried we glued half of a mini plastic egg to the top of the spaceship, you could paint the plastic egg in a colour of your choice, we used Spring Green Acrylic paint, or use it as it is. Using a permanent marker we then added a few details to the spaceship and white paint detail to the mini egg.

Remember to take care when letting kids use permanent ink pens and maybe use old clothes and aprons to protect them from any spills or marks, also cover any areas where the crafts are being made to prevent surfaces from being ruined. You may like to look at our aprons and tablecovers here.
